To fly with the birds, is quite absurd.

We shouldn’t be up this high.

There’s just no way, that this much steel,

Can float there in the sky.

If God had wanted Man to fly,

We’d have wings and a feathery tail.

He probably thinks we’re crazy,

Packed like sardines in this metal whale.

Besides the trip is pointless,

These days, we’re all alike.

The world is just one big village shop,

Selling Ipods and Big Macs and Nikes.

I was happy going to Blackpool,

Or at a push, the Isle of Wight.

I would have even gone camping in Scotland,

To avoid this ten-hour flight.

But here I am, drinking tepid wine,

With a sandwich cold and dry.

I’m determined to enjoy this meal,

Might be the last before I die.

Maybe I should pause, and say a prayer,

And hug you very tight.

Maybe we should live every single day,

As if it were the final flight.

My eyes are drawn, and despite it all,

To the splendour of the mystic blue.

The raspberry ripple sky, and the sherbet sun,

The world is sweeter, when I taste it with you.

I don’t want to leave this heaven,

I’m happy here, just holding your hand,

And if you really want to know the truth,

I’m too damn scared to land!
